Your personal workspace starts on your device. You choose when to connect an outside service.
In your browser
Imported notes are read in your browser. Saved preferences, sessions and workspace records use this browser’s storage on this device.
There is no automatic Life OS cloud sync. Another browser, device or website address can have a separate local workspace.
In a folder you own
The native Mac version reads the Markdown or Obsidian vault you choose from disk. Note edits require permission, with a previous version saved first.
If you keep that folder in iCloud, Dropbox or another sync service, that service’s syncing still applies. Native Mac downloads are currently paused.
Connections you choose
Optional AI and voice features send the relevant prompts, note context, audio or text to their configured providers. Local storage does not mean every feature runs offline.
Optional long-term memory keeps reviewed records you choose to save, in the configured memory service. It is separate from browser storage.
Keep a copy. Stay in control.
Export your work regularly. Clearing site data, using private browsing or losing this device can remove browser-stored records. Browser storage is not a backup.
Settings → Privacy & trust lets you clear local app data. It does not delete your original vault files or memories held by a separate service. Manage optional memory in AI & integrations, and export important work before clearing anything.
The website also loads hosting resources and fonts; opening a GitHub vault contacts GitHub. The local-first design is about where your workspace lives, not a promise that your browser never makes network requests.
YOUR OWN CHAPTER STARTS HERE
Add your life, your way.
Answer a few questions, open a Markdown vault, or start with a blank template. The Desktop setup walks you through it, one small step at a time.
Use the browser app today. On iPhone or iPad, open it in Safari and choose Share → Add to Home Screen. In supported desktop browsers, use Install app; in Safari on macOS Sonoma or later, use File → Add to Dock.
The native Mac installer is being updated for Developer ID signing and Apple notarization. Public downloads are paused while that work is completed.
